"Coffee Time"

23rd September 8-9am, Library (2F)

Let's celebrate the start of the school year with coffee and conversation! Everyone is welcome to this free event, which aims to provide a place where parents can meet and chat for a while. We'll be there to introduce the group and to discuss with parents what future events they'd like to see happen. We hope you can join us!

3 - Curriculum Focus - Mission & Vision

At Hope, the school’s Mission and Vision are the living values that help to inform all practice we use in the school on a daily basis.

We want the school to be an environment where the students enjoy learning, while being suitably supported and challenged in their learning journey. The Mission and Vision also highlights the value we see in the school being part of the global community, understanding the world and taking action with issues important to all, such as the Sustainable Development Goals.

The school’s Mission and Vision is also something that is regularly reviewed by all school stakeholders to ensure that it always meets the needs of the school and our community.

Below is Hope’s Mission and Vision for the school and our students:

Mission

  • provide student centered, differentiated learning

  • facilitate meaningful, holistic learning experiences

  • cultivate students to be confident, reflective, critical thinkers

  • ensure a safe and nurturing environment

  • strengthen family and community connections

  • celebrate international mindedness

Vision

Hope International Academy students will be:

  • responsible global citizens

  • proactive members of their communities

  • reflective problem solvers

  • empathetic, well-rounded individuals

5 - Learning Highlight - Prep Class Cooking

Our Prep Class (5 years old) is currently in the middle of their Unit titled "Who am I?". This unit focuses on learning about ourselves and each other. Through this understanding, students are able to celebrate everyone's differences whilst also seeing all the things they have in common.

During the unit students will need to be geographers, historians, artists, athletes and scientists. To better understand themselves, students will also need to be reflective.

One of the Science goals is "Know the basic nutrient groups and example foods for each group" which they've looked at through lens of the impact of different foods on our bodies. During the Cooking Class, students were able to work collaboratively to bake healthy Oatmeal raisin cookies. They shared their baked goodness with other teachers and learned more about healthy eating.
